| Puerto Rican horse is a record-breaking loser - 21 Sept 2007 |

A Puerto Rican horse has entered the record-books - for being the least successful racehorse of all time.
Dona Chepa, a 9-year-old brown mare, galloped her way to fame on Wednesday when she finished last in a six-horse field at Camarero Racetrack in eastern Puerto Rico - her 125th consecutive loss.
A spokesperson for the track said that this surpassed the previous record for the worst performing racehorse, held by Australian horse Ouroene, who lost 124 races between 1976 and 1983.
Dona Chepa has a distinguished pedigree, the progeny of champion racers, but has never managed to live up the expectations her trainer, Efrain Nieves, may have had for her - the closest she came to a win was when she pulled out all the stops to achieve second place in a race in May 2003.
The mare has somehow managed to rack-up over £6,000 in prize money despite finishing back in fifth no less than 22 times.
