| Land Rover gives Happa helping hand - 24 Oct 2007 |

The Horse and Pony Protection Agency (Happa) has been given a helping hand in the form of a new Land Rover Defender 90, donated by Hillendale Land Rover in Nelson, Lancashire.
Happa, which will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, was originally conceived to help fight against the transportation of large horses to the continent for slaughter, but is now active in all aspects of equine welfare, including lobbying for better legislation to protect horses, ponies and donkeys from cruelty and neglect.
The new vehicle will help Happa to respond better to the 20 or so emergency calls for help that the charity receives every week at headquarters in Briercliffe, near Burnley.
